Entertainment

Throughout the year, there are various types of entertainment that come to Ironton, such as the musical acts that visit the city for the Ironton Catholic Schools Charity Fair, Rally on the River, and Ironmaster Days.

Now, the RO-NA is once again moving toward becoming the entertainment center of Ironton, serving as a multi-purpose performing arts venue.

Opened in 1949, the RO-NA was once the crown jewel of Ironton's downtown, but it closed its doors in 1973.

Since then, many residents in Ironton have shared fond memories of seeing movies and making friends at the RO-NA during their youth.

In 2009, the Friends of Ironton began the process of renovating the property so it could once again become an asset to the downtown area. This project was met with many challenges, as the building needed a new roof and many other repairs before it could ever be usable again. But in 2013, the building began to see new life as small events were being held within its walls.

On May 23, 2014, the residents of Ironton and many visitors to the city on Memorial Day weekend were able to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show on the Ironton Riverfront by the Friends of Ironton. The fireworks show was then followed by the lighting of the new RO-NA Marquee - a replica of the original.

That following Sunday, a packed house was treated to a show by Ironton native and Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Bobby Bare.

While there is still work to be done so that the building can be completely functional, the stage is now open for concerts and much more. This gives Ironton an indoor venue for entertainment in addition to the many outdoor entertainment opportunities that occur throughout the year.
